Tool Genealogy

Every tool is built from the tools that came before it, and used to build the artifacts of its age. Scroll through 1.7 million years of toolmaking, from a hand-knapped flint axe to a 180-ton EUV scanner. Tools are the genotype that persist and reproduce; the things made with them are the phenotype of each era.
